In this campaign, the world in which most events take place is only one world among several that revolve around a sun, which is only one star in a galaxy, which is only one of hundreds of millions in its universe.
Since this is a roleplaying game and not real life, I can say that astrology works in this campaign. I have a computer program that can calculate the positions of the major planets on any given date, and I may decide to give bonuses or penalties to various skill checks depending on how the stars line up, especially the ones that move quickly. If you like, we can work together to find where your character was born and exactly when, and we can cast a natal horoscope for him/her. This might work well at character creation; we can set the character's strengths and weaknesses to coincide with his/her astrological chart. We can also compute that character's houses, and there can be astrologically-determined pluses and minuses depending on what planets are in which of the character's houses on the given date. Well, I think it's a cool idea. Nobody's taken me up on this so far.
That's an astrological term for the big lights in the sky, namely the Sun and Moon.
Seeming to revolve around the sky once every 336 days (although the learned know that the world revolves around the Sun), the Sun relates to the day Sunday and astrologically signifies the individual.
Revolving around the world once every 28 days, the Moon relates to the day Monday and astrologically signifies expression.
"Planet" comes from the ancient Greek verb "planasthai," meaning to wander. The little lights that wander around the sky, in other words.
Revolving around the Sun approximately once every 56 days, Kilivris relates to the day Tuesday and astrologically signifies learning.
Revolving around the Sun approximately every 222 days, Cytheria relates to the day Friday and astrologically signifies relationships.
Revolving around the Sun approximately every 3 years, Tarva relates to the day Thursday and astrologically signifies assertion.
Revolving around the Sun approximately every 25 years, Iledril relates to the day Wednesday and astrologically signifies prosperity.
Revolving around the Sun approximately every 148 years, Vornus relates to the day Saturday and astrologically signifies difficulty.
Because of the amazing way that the Moon and the seasons line up, the signs of the Zodiac are coincidentally the same as the months of the year.
